Our Engineering Business in the UK provides design and consultancy services to clients operating major assets in the process, power, oil and gas and numerous other highly complex industrial sectors. Our consultancy, engineering and simulation technology provide solutions to clients in all stages of plant operation as well as through the full lifecycle of projects from initial concept to installation and commissioning. The current client portfolio includes operations within numerous industries on high profile projects including Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Manufacturing, infrastructure, power distribution and nuclear. The Engineering business focuses on project delivery including design and consultancy services in Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation and Control engineering with specialist consultancy services in this field to support compliance and safety needs for clients.
Qualified or progressing towards degree level in Electrical Power Engineering and be proficient in utilising software modelling packages such as SKM Power Tools for calculation and report preparation. Experience of CAD packages, Microsoft Office and other electrical design packages is also a requirement. Motivation, ambition and self-starter qualities are a key requirement with a flexible approach to cater for involvement in a variety of roles on projects within numerous industries. Desirable capabilities include; Business and commercial acumen Enhanced problem solving ability Ability to work to tight deadlines with limited resources Understanding of client project requirements Literacy in MS Office desktop applications, management systems and Electrical Design software Innovative and creative thinking capabilities Excellent aural, verbal and written communication skills HSE familiarity with significant success in meeting concurrent safety and operational demands. Experience in a fee-based consulting environment will also be an advantage. Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or can demonstrate progressing towards)
The position includes the following responsibilities within projects which range from outline and detailed design to power system analysis in most market sectors; Undertake power system studies including site survey, data gathering, fault level calculations, protection co-ordination, load flow, transient analysis, motor starting, arc energy calculations etc. all utilising industry standard software. Production of design deliverables including calculations, drawings, line diagrams, schedules, and equipment specifications plus other technical information that usually result in a 'design package' suitable for sub-contract build and commissioning. Preparation of sanction grade estimates and client proposals as necessary. Project engineering including the management of procurement process; including enquiry bid appraisal, ordering services and equipment and expediting sub-contractor and supplier work and deliverables. This may include installation supervision and undertaking commissioning support on site at location in the UK and beyond.
