This is a fantastic opportunity working for a high profile company within the Warehouse Automation / Intralogistics industry.
Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or
related relevant discipline
Several years hands on experience working in a similar role,
including controls design and commissioning within an automation
based industry, ideally within the automated warehouse industry
Previous use of CAD tools, (AutoCAD, EPLAN)
Advanced understanding of PLCs (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
Advanced understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment,
e.g. Profinet, ProfiBus, ASi, TCP/IP
Advanced understanding of other controls automation related
equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency
drives
Working knowledge of relevant standards governing the controls
automation industry
To be conversant with AutoCAD, E-plan, Word, Excel, Project,
Outlook.
To provide complete controls design including electrical design,
software design and commissioning within cost and time scale
constraints for a material-handling project, whilst ensuring the
solution meets the requirements of the project.
To perform all controls design activities for delivery of a customer
project from project Launch to handover on site
To perform the role of lead engineer for the controls portion of a customer project. (sometimes including leading a team of
controls engineers through the controls tasks on the project)
To maintain our image as a top quality, professional company, by
adopting an honest, professional and attentive approach
To be the lead engineer on projects
To mentor and support other engineers on projects
To support the Head of Controls with project delivery
To co-ordinate and ensure consistent approach across projects for electrical design, software design and commissioning activities
To take responsibility for controls budgets and time constraints on
projects
To hold controls design reviews for relevant projects
To assist in developing and maintaining departmental procedures
and standards, promoting a continuous improvement culture
Production of completed PLC software for control of a material
handling sub system, including safety compliant code for safety
portion
Production of all associated documentation including, but not
limited to Functional Design Specifications, test specifications and
commissioning checklists
To produce databases to facilitate production of a visualisation
system
To assist in factory testing of the visualisation system prior to
sending to site
Design, production and test of conveyor control software.
Emulation testing / virtual commissioning of completed PLC software prior to commencing on site
To assist in development of standard blocks and solutions
£45 - 60k
Home-based. Would need to visit customer sites when required.
