A BSc or higher in physics, chemistry, optical engineering or a related subject.
At least 4 years of relevant experience.
Proven track record in opto-mechanical design.
Practical, hands on creative designer able to generate design concepts from scratch.
Expertise in optical principles, materials, and measurement techniques.
Laboratory experience of photonics testing & measurements.
Aptitude for problem-solving.
Self-motivated and able to demonstrate attention to detail.
Experience in sensor design.
Experience in end-to-end product development.
Knowledge of Optical Design programs such as Zemax.
Data analysis tools such as Matlab, Scilab, Origin and simulation tools such as Ansys.

Contribute significantly to successful project results in technology and/or product development by identifying, proposing and implementing innovative solutions. Use unique technical knowledge to oversee development tasks.
Meeting demanding product specification and costs targets.
Design experiments and create test regimes to evaluate design prototypes.
Test products to certified standard methods.
Carry out field testing of prototypes.
Work with suppliers to produce production quality components.
Work with other departments to optimise design for manufacture and assembly.
