ENGINEERING MANAGER - ELECTRO-MECHANICAL CONTROL SYSTEMS.
-Qualifications.- European University Degree. Minimum 7 years working experience. Management experience at least as a Group Leader. -Communication skills.- Very good communication skills are essential. The Manager in this position will communicate with Managers and Engineers from all European countries, Japan and the USA and also with customers from European countries. -Knowledge of languages.- The Company's working language is English. Good working knowledge of English is essential. Knowledge of other European languages is preferred; knowledge of Japanese is an asset.
Main tasks of the Technical Manager:
1. Arrange and supervise the work of the Engineers, Engineering Designers and the Group Leaders. The main tasks of the Section are outlined in this document below.
2. Ensure good project management.
Ensure that the workload of staff is properly scheduled; the work is done to technical excellence, to timescales and expected budget.
3. Ensure good communication with the European subsidiaries. Problems to be escalated to the General Manager if the Technical Manager cannot resolve these.
4. Make sure that the Section has excellent technical knowledge. Provide training as appropriate.
5. Ensure fast response to the requirements of the customers and subsidiaries. This applies in particular to:
Technical Inquiries (TQs),
Special Products Request (SPRs),
Claims ("Products Failures") investigations,
Support of the sales process
6. Participate in European activities as required.
7. Ensure the well being of the staff.
8. Participate in the Managerial Team meetings under the leadership of the General Manager.
-Special Products Requests.-
Proposals for special products to meet specific customers' requirements. Preparation of schemes, quotations on the cost level, selection of the manufacturing site and arrangements for quotation for manufacture. Once ordered, design of the product.
Researching and answering technical inquiries from the European subsidiaries. This often involves communication with the inquirer from any of the European countries, but also communication with the Japanese Technical Centre (JTC) and at times also with the Technical Centre in the USA (UTC) .
-Applications and Claims - research and solutions:-
Researching and finding causes of customers' application problems. Advising the local Engineers and customers. Searching for causes of product failures and communicating with the appropriate Engineers in JTC.
-Design of new products for the European market.-
Producing new designs to meet the marketing specifications. Arrangements for prototypes, testing and evaluation, arrangements for life testing and evaluation of the results. Preparation of the necessary documentation. Production release of the new product.
Involvement in the European technical activities with and for all the European subsidiaries. This work is on the European level and often involves meetings and activities in different European countries.
Participation in any new activities as requested by the General Manager.
These can involve supporting various activities of ETC, EMC, European Industry Projects and European subsidiaries.
£50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience.
