Our client is a manufacturer of high integrity cabling products; primarily for the offshore energy and oil & gas markets.

Experience in a similar Mechanical Design / R&D role. HNC / HND / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering. Strong 2D and 3D software skills - AutoCAD / Solidworks etc. Good understanding of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering principles.

Maintaining current products and designing new parts and assemblies from concept through to tooling and production release. Gather information and conduct research to understand the needs of the challenge to be addressed while fostering a team based approach to project management. Ensuring product supply, delivery and installation meet the customer on-time requirements.
Design, specification and detail drawings using 2D and 3D systems.
Design verification using simulations and hand calculations.
Research new developments and innovations in the industry.
Prototyping ideas using a "hands on" mentality.
Introduction of new methods and processes with the aim of best in class.
Estimate materials, labour and manufacturing costs to assess impact on projects.
Design optimisation for cost and customer requirements.
Reverse engineering and market benchmarking
Compare current products/developments against best in class or other innovations.
Trouble shooting product designs, customer/supplier issues to resolution.
Providing technical support for customers through the sales department.
Support the purchasing department to suit individual design requirements.
Maintenance of engineering systems, BOM's, ECR/ECN etc...
